The Parish is made up of approximately 980 registered electors and their family members not yet old enough to register. Farming provides the predominant work activity within the Parish.
Within the Parish you will find much that displays a typical English Village environment; the Urchfont Duck Pond, Church, Village Hall, Community Shop and Post Office, Pub, Primary School/Pre-School, Cricket/Croquet ground, Playing Field / Recreation Ground / Playground Area, Oakfrith Wood, Peppercombe Wood, Farmers Field, Urchfont Cemetery, allotments, farm shops, farm buildings, thatched cottages, numerous sporting & social clubs together with many footpaths & bridleways all nestling within very active farmland and the wider countryside on the edge of Salisbury Plain.
The annual Scarecrow Festival, normally held over the early May Bank Holiday weekend, attracts many visitors from far and wide (Cancelled in 2020 and unfortunately cancelled again in 2021 due to the COVID-19 uncertainty).
